Leur analyse fondamentale sur le sujet se r&eacute;v&egrave;le une ressource utile pour les professionnels, les chercheurs et les &eacute;tudiants des domaines de la sant&eacute; et des politiques qui veulent acqu&eacute;rir des notions de base sur l&rsquo;emploi et le travail comme d&eacute;terminants de la sant&eacute; et de l&rsquo;&eacute;quit&eacute; en sant&eacute;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Burgard et Katherine Lin construisent leur analyse en commen&ccedil;ant par d&eacute;crire les aspects du travail qui favorisent la sant&eacute; et ce qui diff&eacute;rencie les individus en termes d&rsquo;exposition &agrave; un travail sain. Elles s&rsquo;appliquent par ailleurs &agrave; expliquer en d&eacute;tail les m&eacute;canismes physiques et psychologiques par lesquels le travail peut se &laquo;&thinsp;glisser sous l&rsquo;&eacute;piderme&thinsp;&raquo; et devenir une cause de morbidit&eacute; chez des individus et des populations. Les auteurs explorent ici les effets d&rsquo;un travail et d&rsquo;un emploi dangereux sur l&rsquo;&eacute;quit&eacute; en sant&eacute; tout au long du parcours de vie d&rsquo;un individu, d&rsquo;une g&eacute;n&eacute;ration &agrave; l&rsquo;autre et selon l&rsquo;identit&eacute; sociale (p. ex., genre, race, &acirc;ge, et statut d&rsquo;immigrant). Le fait que les auteures pr&eacute;cisent que les effets du travail sur l&rsquo;&eacute;tat de sant&eacute; ne concernent pas uniquement l&rsquo;individu occupant l&rsquo;emploi mais aussi ses enfants et sa famille se r&eacute;v&egrave;le un &eacute;l&eacute;ment tr&egrave;s pertinent pour les professionnels de la sant&eacute; publique et des soins primaires.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Un autre point important amen&eacute; par les auteures est le lien incontestable entre les facteurs structurels et les normes sociales, d&rsquo;une part, et la qualit&eacute; et l&rsquo;abondance des emplois offerts sur le march&eacute; du travail, d&rsquo;autre part.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Les conclusions des auteures devraient attirer l&rsquo;attention des &eacute;pid&eacute;miologistes et des chercheurs des domaines de la sant&eacute; publique et des politiques.
