{"id":14413,"date":"2013-07-30T10:50:19","date_gmt":"2013-07-30T10:50:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nccdh-dev.media-doc.ca\/healthequity-agenda-sk-2\/"},"modified":"2025-10-01T19:26:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T19:26:00","slug":"healthequity-agenda-sk-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nccdh-dev.media-doc.ca\/fr\/healthequity-agenda-sk-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Developing a health equity agenda: from a shared vision to policy and practice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t<strong><em>This blog entry was written for the NCCDH by Amanda Clarke, University of Saskatchewan<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe NCCDH, the University of Saskatchewan, and the Canadian Council on Social Determinants of Health (CCSDH) held Developing a Health Equity Agenda: From a Shared Vision to Policy and Practice on May 13, 2013 in Saskatoon. This event brought together researchers, public health practitioners, policy makers and sector leaders in an effort to further advance health equity in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/nccdh-dev.media-doc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Saskatoon_National_Forum_May_13_3.webp\" style=\"width: 500px;height: 171px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe purpose of the summit was to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\tBring together an engaged and active national multi-sectoral audience to address what is currently known on social determinants of health and health equity, highlight questions and topics that participants felt should be addressed, advance health equity approaches, and build a sustainable network of networks<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tProfile health equity work occurring locally, provincially, and nationally that may include evidence, best practices, and a set of recommendations for future work; and<\/li>\n<li>\n\t\tContribute to the development of an agenda to guide health equity practice, policy, research through action on the social determinants of health over the next five years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\tWe were fortunate to have eight exceptional speakers present on their health equity experiences.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWe asked&hellip;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n\t\t<em>What fundamental components are needed for a health equity agenda in Canada?<\/em><\/li>\n<li>\n\t\t<em>What are the first actions required at a provincial and national level in order to move that agenda forward?<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n\tResponses to these questions were captured in a series of videos.
