Gender-based violence has significant immediate and long-term impacts on health, yet it has not been systematically addressed by public health systems. This webinar presents a framework developed to enable local public health agencies to respond to the increasing calls to address gender-based violence as a public health priority.  

The goal of this framework is to build understanding and guide public health planning, policy, and action to prevent gender-based violence.  

A key focus of this webinar is to Identify the scope, roles and concrete actions that local public health can take to advance gender-based violence prevention efforts. 

While the framework was developed for Ontario’s local public health agencies, it has broad applicability for use by public health organizations in other jurisdictions. 

Using an iterative research process, the framework was developed with support from Ontario’s local public health agencies, and community and academic partners, as part of a Locally Driven Collaborative Project funded by Public Health Ontario.

  1. Discuss the role of evidence-informed public health decision-making and community engaged research in the development and dissemination of the framework.
